یہ نایاب تصاویر اگست 1947 کی ہیں جب پاکستان اور ہندوستان علیحدہ ہوئے تھے۔ان تصاویر کو دیکھ کر اندازہ ہو گا کہ ہمارے آباوَاجداد نے پاکستان کو کتنی قربانیوں کے بعد حاصل کیا ہے۔ ان کا پاکستان کے لیے اتنی قربانیاں دینے کا مقصد ایک آزاد، خودمختار اسلامی ملک تھا جہاں اللہ اور اس کے رسولﷺ کی تعلیمات کے مطابق قوانین ہوں۔ مگر آج ہم اپنے گھروں اور گاڑیوں پر جھنڈا لہرا کر، آتش بازی کر کے اور ایک دن کی سپیشل ٹی وی ٹرانسمیشن کے بعد سمجھتے ہیں کے ہم نے اپنے بزرگوں کی قربانیوں کا حق ادا کر دیا۔ میری آپ سب سے گزارش ہے کہ ان تصاویر کو صرف تصویر کے طور پہ نہ دیکھیں بلکہ ان کے پیچھے چھپی ہوئی کہانیوں کو بھی سمجھیں اور سوچیں کہ ہم کس طرح اپنے بزرگوں کی پاکستان کے لیئے دی ہوئی قربانیوں کا حق ادا کرنے کی کوشش کر سکتے ہیں؟ ۔ اور شہدائے پاکستان کی مغفرت اور بلندی درجات کے لیے دعا بھی کریں۔ اللہ تعالی سے دعا ہے کہ وہ پاکستان کو اپنوں اور غیروں کے شر سے محفوظ فرمائے اور پاکستانیوں پر اپنا رحم و کرم فرمائے آمین۔

آزادی اللہ تعالی کی بہت بڑی نعمت ہے، جو اس نے ہمیں عطا کی ہے۔ آئے ہم عہد کرتے ہیں کہ اللہ تعالی کی دی ہوئی اس نعمت کا شکر آتش بازی کر کے یا ڈھول دھمکا کر کے نہیں بلکہ اللہ تعالی کے حضور اس کی بندگی کرتے ہوئے شکرانے کے نوافل ادا کر کے کرتے ہیں۔ اور اللہ تعالی سے دعا کرتے ہیں کہ وہ ہمیں امت مسلمہ کی خیر خواہی کرنے والے عادل حکمران عطا فرمائے۔ آمین ثم آمین

Men, women and children who died in the rioting were cremated on a mass scale. Villagers even used oil and kerosene when wood was scarce.

The massive exchange of population that took place in the summer of 1947 was unprecedented. It left behind a trail of death and destruction. The Indian map was slashed to make way for a new country - Pakistan.
